Congratulations Estevan Garcia Gomez, Estevan was selected Sierra High Schools Warrior of the Month. Estevan is 17 and a senior at Sierra High School. He enjoys listening to music and hanging out with family and friends. Estevan feels that Sierra has helped him to stay focused on his education and helped him to recover credits. “The staff is nice and always helpful”. After graduation, he is planning to attend Ventura College. Estevan would like to enroll in the mechanics program. Congratulations Estevan Garcia Gomez, you are a true WARRIOR!
Quarter 3 Awards Assembly
Sierra High School hosted their Quarter 3 Awards Assembly. Students received awards for: Perfect Attendance, Excellent Attendance, Most Improved, Academic Citizenship, Academic Achievement, Honor Roll, Principal's Honor Roll, Success in Math, Success in English, and Superior Warrior Advancing and Growing (SWAG Award). Over 20 family members attended the assembly. Way to go Warriors!
Ventura College Field Trip
Sierra High School seniors took at field trip to Ventura College. They received a tour of the campus, had the opportunity to meet with an academic counselor, and received some goodies. Our warriors are one step closer to graduation. Way to go Warriors!
Alina Barrera is the February 2019 Warrior of the Month
Congratulations Alina Barrera, Alina was selected Sierra High Schools Warrior of the Month. Alina is a junior and she is the ASB Vice President. After graduation, Alina would like to attend a community college and transfer to a four-year university. She plans to major in Performing Arts. Alina has one younger brother. For fun, Alina likes to hang out with her friends and socialize. When asked what she likes best about Sierra High School, Alina stated, “I like the one-on-one attention and help that you get here. Teachers are always available at Sierra High School”. When asked what advice she had for other students, Alina stated, “Not to worry, it will get better as long as you try your best”. Alina is a true Warrior!

Observing Habitat
Students observed different types of interactions of organisms living within the ecosystem of our habitat during Biology.
Sierra High Visits Getty Museum
Sierra High School’s World History and Law Classes took their learning to the Getty Museum to analyze Renaissance and Absolute Monarchy paintings and artifacts. They focused on the exhibit Renaissance Drawings Revealed which included drawings by Michelangelo and Titian. A special treat was being able to analyze Jacopo da Pontormo’s most renowned work, the Visitation amongst other Renaissance pieces of the Florentine era of the 1520’s. A class favorite was Louis the XIV portrait as well as a standing musical clock from the Palace of Versailles.

Warrior of the Month - Jade Guzman
Jade Guzman is Sierra High Schools Warrior of the Month. Jade moved to Fillmore in October, she is a junior at Sierra High School and she is the ASB Secretary. After graduation, Jade would like to attend a community college and transfer to a four-year university. She would like to major in either chemistry, astronomy, human behavior, or animation for video game designing. Her hobbies include animation and science experiments. Jade has five siblings, one older sister, two younger brothers, and two younger sisters. When asked what she likes about Sierra High School, Jade stated, “I like the welcoming feeling and the positive vibes”. Congratulations Jade for being selected Sierra High Schools January Warrior of the Month.
Skull Lab
Students are comparing structures of vertebrate skulls to determine animal's role in the ecosystem based upon sense of hearing, location of eyes, and types of dentition to predict the size of animal based up length of the skull.
