The Child Nutrition Services Department partnered with a Brigaid Chef for a special "Kitchen Takeover" at our elementary schools. The hands-on training focused on preparing nutritious, scratch-cooked meals while strengthening staff skills and expanding fresh, homemade menu options for students.
The featured meal included beef burritos served with homemade Spanish rice, beans, fresh salsa, and a garden salad topped with homemade ranch dressing. The meals were a tremendous hit, with students enthusiastically enjoying the freshly prepared lunch.
The next Kitchen Takeover is scheduled for November 22–23, with plans underway to prepare homemade turkey pot pies, followed by vanilla cinnamon pudding topped with Nilla wafers and whipped cream.
