Our dedicated and passionate counselor Miss. Jackie was recognized as Continuation Counselor of the year for Region Two. This means out of 438 continuation schools in the state Miss Jackie was chosen to be one of 8 counselors for this award. She was recognized as a top counselor for the areas of Los Angeles, Kern, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo! Another local winner pictured was Santa Paula's Renaissance High's Mr. Garcia who is their Outreach Specialist. Miss Jackie was nominated to her passion and commitment to student success. She works hard to break the stigmas around mental health. She brings her own experiences as a proud daughter of migrants to our students to inspire them to dream and plan big. Congratulations to two local heroes. Our students are fortunate to have empowered and intelligent champions on their side. @cceaplus
Fillmore Unified School District to Honor the School Lunch Heroes Serving Healthy Meals
Celebrating School Lunch Hero Day on May 5, 2023
Between preparing delicious food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Fillmore Unified School District nutrition professionals make healthy meals. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, Fillmore Unified School District schools will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 5. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million of America’s students each school day.

Ventura College hosted VC Pirate Day for our Seniors
Today Ventura College hosted VC Pirate Day for our Seniors headed there in the fall. It is a great event where our young adults get a lot of information about everything they need to have a strong start. Students meet with their counselors, learn how to register for classes, plan their schedules, and get to start meeting other students in their same program. Our Counselor Miss Jackie said they were the most focused group in attendance of all the schools. They were engrossed in the presentations, taking notes, and asking great questions. These students have bright futures ahead!
Piru, Fillmore, and your Sierra family are all so proud of you!
Calling All Warrior Alumni
We are looking for former Sierra students who are willing to share their story and success with our students and staff. If you are a former student here, please email ahenrey@fillmoreusd.org (or send a message via social media) a short update on what you have accomplished after graduating and any words of wisdom or messages to your former teachers. Please include your name and the year you graduated. If you are interested in coming to speak to our students, please include that as well. We look forward to hearing from you!
Ms.Isabel & Mr.Chavez honored at tomorrow night's School Board meeting
These two have been selected to be honored at tomorrow night’s School Board meeting!
Ms. Isabel is our attendance clerk. She was selected to be recognized because of her commitment to keeping our office running efficiently. Her years in this position have helped keep all of our new office staff informed and on track. She makes sure all of our students feel cared for while also holding them to high expectations.
Mr. Chavez is our English and Law teacher. He believes that all of our students can become excellent writers. He creates a safe space where students are willing to share their writing and personal narratives. Students report that they have never written so much in their lives but now they actually like it. He too makes sure all of our students are seen and heard, while holding them to high expectations.
Just a glimpse of some of the Fridays we are having here at Sierra
Just a glimpse of some of the Fridays we are having here at Sierra today. We enjoyed the sun and have started a corn hole tournament between 1st-period classes during lunch. One of these players is a professional player so we definitely heard some playful groans from the other teams when his name was announced. In Beginning Art we are working on color theory. Today, students are creating mindful color wheel mandalas using the principles of hue, saturation, and chroma to create unique works of art.
Attendance Matters [English/Spanish]
celebrated our Quarter 3 students with an award ceremony
On Monday we began our 4th quarter and celebrated our Quarter 3 students with an award ceremony. We are very grateful to the families who came to support their students here at Sierra High School. During the third quarter 80 full-time students earned 2090 credits, an average of 26 credits each. That is the equivalent of one semester earned in just 40 days of school.
These excellent students earned awards for excelling in subject areas, exhibiting the qualities of P.R.I.D.E., never being tardy, citizenship, and service appreciation. If you get the opportunity to know any of these students earning these awards, they come with our highest recommendation! They are each wonderful, hardworking, and caring young men and women.
