Graduates of Sierra High School & Heritage Valley Independent Study

Last night we proudly celebrated the graduates of Sierra High School and Heritage Valley Independent Study, honoring their hard work, growth, and achievements. We wish each of them the very best as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, school board members, and district personnel who joined us and helped make the evening truly memorable.

Sierra High Student of the Year Lesly Izarrarz

We are proud to recognize Lesly Izarrarz as our 2025 Student of the Year!

She is a responsible, cheerful, and hardworking student who consistently goes above and beyond. As an active ASB member, a creative force behind our school posters, and a dependable office aide, she truly makes a difference on our campus. She was selected as Student of the Week by multiple teachers and earned the Student of the Month award in January. We’re so proud of her accomplishments and the positive example she sets for her peers.

Mother's Day

Sierra High and Heritage Valley Independent Studies hosted a heartfelt Mother’s Day event where students invited their mothers and loved ones for an evening of connection, creativity, and community.

Guests enjoyed a light dinner, meaningful conversations, and hands-on crafts that sparked joy and laughter. Our “conversation starters” helped break the ice, it was truly special to witness mothers and daughters sharing stories, smiles, and special moments together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this a beautiful celebration.

Go Warriors!

Back in February, Paul Pacheco stood out at the VCOE Alternative Education Student Summit by jumping into the Q&A with keynote speaker Hamish Brewer. True to his word, Mr. Brewer promised a new skateboard to all student participants, and today, Paul’s finally arrived!
Way to go, Paul! We love seeing our students speak up, take initiative, and get rewarded for it!

Career Fair!

Sierra High School hosted an exciting Career Fair today, and it was nothing short of inspiring!

Students had the opportunity to connect with professionals from a variety of industries, including a local barber who shared his skills. Also in attendance were Ventura College, Fillmore Adult School, first responders such as the fire and police departments and many others. From hands-on demonstrations to one-on-one conversations, students walked away empowered with new ideas for their futures.

A huge THANK YOU to all our community partners for showing up and to our amazing counselor, Ms. Jackie, for organizing this event!

Photos from the event were proudly taken by students in Sierra’s photography class.
