Fillmore Unified School District Fall 2020 Return to School Survey
PURPOSE OF THIS SURVEY: Today you will be completing a survey about the reopening of Fillmore Unified schools. As we plan for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, please know that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families is our highest priority. As parents and guardians of district students your opinions are important. This survey is voluntary and there are no right or wrong answers to these questions. All responses provided are for informational and planning purposes.
Fillmore Unified is working directly with the Ventura County Office of Education and Ventura County Public Health (VCPH) regarding reopening plans for Fall 2020. Our district and all Ventura County school districts must ensure the following guidelines are in place in order to safely reopen:
• Promote Healthy Hygiene Practices
• Plans for Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Ventilation
• Plans for Physical Distancing Inside and Outside the Classroom
• Employee and Staff Education
• Family Education
• Screening Procedure for Staff, Students, and Visitors
• Surveillance (plan for monitoring attendance verifying absences, and notifying VCPH)
• Contingencies for more restrictive phases due to changes in epidemiological data
The Ventura County Public Health Guiding Principles and Communication for School Districts states that “plans should not require universal testing of students and staff prior to reopening of schools”.
The reopening of schools this Fall 2020 will include changes to multiple aspects of our schools including how we enter the grounds, limited movement within the campus, 6 feet of spacing between all individuals in a classroom resulting in smaller class sizes of 10-12 students, and other actions to ensure adherence with VCPH guidelines. In addition, we will need to ensure the following as part of our reopening plan:
*Masks: Fillmore Unified will expect students/staff to follow the most current guidelines from VCPH, California Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control regarding the use of masks.
*Passive Screening: Students and staff will need to screen before leaving for school (ensure temperatures below 99.5 Fahrenheit by the no-touch temporal or forehead method or 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit orally and observe for symptoms outlined by public health officials). (ref. Ventura County Public Health Guiding Principles and Communication for School Districts)
* Active Screening: Schools and all district facilities will engage in symptom screening as students and staff enter campus and buses, consistent with public health guidance, which includes visual wellness checks and temperature checks with no-touch thermometers. (ref. Ventura County Public Health Guiding Principles and Communication for School Districts)
Thank you for completing this survey and providing us with information on how we can provide the best service, support, and instruction for our students.
