At Rio Vista we believe in starting strong together!
This week, our principal, Ms Kelp met with every grade level to talk about our school expectations, build community, and set a positive tone for the year ahead. When students know what’s expected, they feel safe, supported, and ready to learn, and that’s exactly the foundation we want for a successful year!
Mrs. Lamiell’s class dove into math!
3rd graders in Mrs. Lamiell’s class dove into math with counting collections! Students worked together to sort, group, and explore numbers in hands-on ways. This activity helps build number sense, problem-solving strategies, and teamwork all while making math fun and meaningful!

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! My name is Kayleigh Kelp, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Rio Vista Elementary. I am truly excited to join this vibrant community and look forward to meeting each of you in the weeks ahead.
Please take a moment to carefully review our school procedures via our website. All families should receiving also be receiving a back to school packet in the mail that includes some of our policies and schedules, as well as important information about communicating with school staff and our bullying prevention expectations. At Rio Vista, we emphasize kindness in all that we do, and we ask all adults to model respectful behavior as well.
If you haven’t already, please sign up for Parent Square to receive important updates from our school. It is our main communication tool. If you need help getting connected, our front office is happy to assist. I will be sharing a school newsletter each month via Parent Sqaure so be on the lookout for the first back to school "Rio Vista Review" newsletter coming soon!
Families are an essential part of our school community. I encourage you to get involved, whether through our Parent Club, volunteering in the classroom, or attending school events. Your partnership and participation make a meaningful difference. Please be sure to complete the FUSD Volunteer Applications that can be found on the District Website (this application needs to be completed each school year).
The elementary years are foundational in a child’s life, and I am committed to making this school year both meaningful and memorable for your family. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or even just to say hello.
To help ease the transition into the new year, parents and guardians will be allowed to walk students to class during the first three days of school. After that, we ask parents/guardians to say goodbye at the gate. I look forward to meeting you all on the 1stday of school, August 13th, 2025!
Go Roadrunners! Beep! Beep!
Kayleigh Kelp
Rio Vista Principal
¡Vamos Roadrunners! ¡Bip, bip!
