Piru Elementary Ball Donation
Representatives of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Fillmore Unified School District Board Member Scott Beylik visited Piru Elementary School to donate playground balls for our students to enjoy. They were very generous with their time and taught students how to safely play some fun games. Thank you Sherrifs and Board Member Beylik! Please come visit us any time.

First Day of School
It’s an exciting time of year! Piru Elementary welcomed new and returning students to the first day of school. It’s going to be a great year!
Piru Tech Team Training
The new Piru Tech Team members were selected for next year. In order to prepare our new members, existing members developed a training to orient them to their important duties as members of this prestigious group at our school.
SWUN at Piru Elementary
We have been working diligently this year at our school to implement the SWUN program with fidelity. Our teachers ended the year with a co-teaching opportunity with our SWUN coach. It was a great experience for all who participated.
Piru Dance Festival
We had a very productive Dance Festival. Thank you to all the community members for coming out to support Piru Elementary school. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed all the food, games and prizes.
TK & 1st Grade Awards Assemblies
This Monday June 3rd we held our ceremony to honor our TK and 1st grade students in the areas of attendance, effort, improvement, achievement, excellence and our most prestigious award...The Condor! We are proud of all of our students for their efforts this year in working towards their personal best.
Career Day at Piru!
We were proud to have our first Career Day at Piru Elementary School. Our counselors worked collaboratively to bring a variety of professionals to share their path to their career, highlights of their duties, and their personal rewards in career choice. We had a college representatives, military personnel, district technician, district nurse, district chef, Emergency Medical Technician, game warden, police officer, engineer and principal. The students truly enjoyed the presentations. We appreciate all of our guests participation!
Piru Science Night
We are so thankful to Mr. Barrera for organizing Science Night. Students worked on their projects independently and then displayed their projects encompassing the scientific process of inquiry. We had a total of 150 participants working collaboratively in their group classroom projects. Great job everyone!
Kindergarten Animal Reports
Mrs. Lanning’s Kinder students learned about the adaptations living things have to survive in their environment. Students pictured are delivering their classroom report to their classmates. Very impressive!
Interactive Family Engagement Event
Interactive Family Engagement Event, This Thursday May 23rd from 6:30 to 8pm in the Fillmore Unified School District's Auditorium located at 627 Sespe Avenue. Learn to spot and nurture seeds of creative strengths in your children with guest speaker Kathryn Haydon.
4th Grade Field Trip To Santa Cruz Island
Our fourth graders had the amazing experience of attending Santa Cruz Island again this year. Would like to send out a big thanks to the National Forest Foundation for granting us the Every Kid in the Park Grant. This year's adventure was incredibly filled with dolphin and whale citings as part of the boat ride then interactions with the island fox, scrub jay and plant species native to the island. Park rangers were very attentive and taught our students so much about the island way of life.
Echo Hero Assembly
At our Echo Hero Assembly, Mr. Echo and Ms. Echo were both here to present their message on recycling. They helped us believe that each of us can be Hero's in helping to save our planet. There was dancing, fun engagement, and great learning by all students. Students also had a BLAST!!!! This was in preparation for Earth Day.
Third Grade at Hansen Farm
Our third grade had a great learning experience on when they visited the UC Hansen Farm in Santa Paula. Pictured are Mrs. Gross and Ms. Smith's class. These experiences enhance our SEAL unit on living things.
Egg Hunt!
Students had a fun time collecting over 5,000 eggs put together by wonderful volunteers. We are so thankful for their support along with the invaluable memories for our students.
Josh the Otter Visits Piru!
We had the pleasure of receiving a visit from Josh The Otter, Dr. Palazuelos, and the Fillmore Rotary Club. Josh's message was delivered by Dr. Palazuelos via the book Josh The Otter. Josh wanted to educate students on water safety in preparation for summer months. After enjoying the book, students recited the Josh The Otter Water Safety Pledge with all our guests. It was a very memorable experience for our TK and K students, teachers, staff, and parents!
Piru Kindness Initiative
To finish off the school year we launched our Piru Kindness Initiative. The initiative was debuted at an assembly to define what it means to be kind, set expectations, and announce rewards. As part of the initiative, students will get kindness tokens. Those tokens will be rewarded with Otter Pops each Friday. At the same assembly we announced our Video Truck Contract where students need to earn points with their good behavior to be able to attend the fun event in June.
