Piru Chior
Our new Piru Choir debuted at our Annual Holiday Program this December. Mr. Morey started our choir this school year as an additional opportunity for our 4th and 5th graders to discover and refine their musical talents and interests. We are so proud of our students!
Piru Christmas Parade
Piru Elementary was very excited to participate in the Piru Christmas Parade. We participated in the parade using our beautiful Christmas sleigh that was built for a Piru Parade about three decades ago. It was refurbished by our Kinder Parent Group. Representing Piru Elementary School at the parade were Mrs. Lanning and Ms. Uribe’s kinder students, and additional Piru students at all levels. Staff participating included Mrs. Lanning, Ms. Uribe, Mrs. Louth, Mr. Raymond, and Principal Diana Vides. Behind our students is our Piru Elementary band comprised of our 4/5th grade students under the direction of Mr. Ben Morey, our Band Teacher.
Professional Learning Community
Piru teachers have been working closely with our Instructional Coach Lori McManus to improve our program. Here is Lori at our grade level professional learning communities that are held every Friday.
Pajama Day
Our Piru ASB organized a Pajama Day for our final day of the 2019 school year. A fun time was had by all participants.
Santa Visits Piru Elementary
We were so excited to have Old Saint Nick and his special helpers visit Piru Elementary this holiday season to kick off the Winter Holiday. Students were excited for the visit and thankful for their presents.
Apple Leadership and Learning Conference
Piru Technology Leadership Team participated in the Apple Leadership and Learning Conference that was sponsored by Apple. This is a way to continue the work that was brought about by the Apple Connect Ed Grant where students receive one to one devices. We learned so much at the conference and came back inspired. In order to share the learning, we have have had two staff meetings and a full day of training dedicated to imparting the knowledge from the conference to our teachers to further deepen the grant implementation at our school.
Makerspace Learning
Our students build circuits in Makerspace. One of the projects we are working on with students is to expand their classroom experiences and build critical thinking skills. So much fun!
School Site Council Meeting Held in Robotics Room

Grinch Day

Santa Monica Mountains
On Wednesday December 12th our 4th grade students experienced the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains. Students learned about outdoor life, Chumash culture and customs!
Virtual Field Trip to the Redwoods
Piru teachers have been working together to bring virtual field trips to Piru students. Here is an example of Mrs. Silva's 4/5 combination class visiting the redwoods via Zoom. They were able to receive a tour from a park ranger. Students loved the experience and were able to learn a lot about the National Park virtually. Bravo!!!
Mrs. Silva is Piru Elementary's Super Star of the Month
Mrs. Silva was selected as our first Super Star of the Month for Piru Elementary School. She was recognized for the month of November for her excellent service to our school. Thank you Mrs. Silva, your Rock!!!
