The first and second year band student performed for all grade levels. Some recognizable songs were heard like Baby Shark and the Star Wars theme!

Interactive Family Engagement Event
Interactive Family Engagement Event, This Thursday May 23rd from 6:30 to 8pm in the Fillmore Unified School District's Auditorium located at 627 Sespe Avenue. Learn to spot and nurture seeds of creative strengths in your children with guest speaker Kathryn Haydon.
Future Career Day
Mountain Vista has several future baseball players, dirt bike riders, actors, writers, educators and service people on campus. Students dressed up as what they would like their future career to be.
Indian Education Consortium Honoring Program
Joshua Magallon, a second grader at Mountain Vista, was honored at the Indian Education Consortium Honoring Program. He was selected as one of top Native elementary students in the county. Great job, Josh!
River Trip 2019 Mrs. Davis
Mountain Vista’s 3rd grade classes went in a field trip to the river with a guide from the US Fish and Wildlife Service. This was part of the Life Cycle and Ecosystems Unit.
Rainbow Day
Each grade level was assigned a color for Rainbow Spirit Day. It made for a great picture.
Crazy Hair Day!
ASB sponsored a crazy hair day at Mountain Vista. Students were very creative in how they did their hair!
1st Grade Family Fun Day
First grade teachers invited families to join them for some outdoor play with their children. The first grade team set up different stations that the students and their families could interact together. This was a wonderful event that we are hoping to build on at other grade levels.
Kindergarten Visits Hansen Agriculture Center
Kindergartners learned about where our food comes from and nutrition. This was an interactive field trip that kept the students engaged in different activities.
Soloists Perform for Kindergarten Students
Kindergarten classes have had an opportunity to listen to fourth and fifth graders perform solos. The fourth and fifth graders share the name of their instruments and why they like it. Then, they performed a solo. Bravo!
Fifth Grade Gallery Walk
Our fifth grade teachers have just started their journey developing unit of study and sharing students’ learning with families. This was their first Gallery Walk and it was a wonderful success!
Josh the Otter Visits Mountain Vista
The Fillmore Rotary Club supported our school learning about being safe near water. Each kindergarten student received a copy of the book.
Learning about the Supermarket
Kathy Mesa from Von's in Fillmore shared a book about going to the supermarket. She brought her miniature shopping cart filled with groceries to share with the kindergartners.
Community Volunteers Celebrate Read Across America
Mountain Vista welcomed several community volunteer to share a book with students. This was a wonderful opportunity to have students listen to someone else share their love of reading. Thank you to all who volunteered!
2nd Grade Geology Galley Walk
Geologist here, Geologist there, Geologist, Geologist Everywhere! Our 2nd grade students shared what they learned with their families at the gallery walk.
Dr. Seuss Fun!
Mrs. Myers class had fun measuring, mixing, and making Oobleck. No day honoring Dr. Seuss would be complete without making and eating Green Eggs and Ham!
Engineering Challenge
STEM engineering Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat tower stack! Students in Mrs. Gonzales’ fourth grade class were given a challenge. Students had 2 minutes to build the tallest free standing towers using 25 cups and 6 inch pieces of paper. They then redesigned and rebuilt.
Walk-A-Thon
Despite the weather never cooperating, this year’s Mountain Vista Elementary Annual Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser was a success! We held the event in the quad and blacktop. Students had a great time even when it started to drizzle. Proceeds go to benefit Mountain Vista students.
Mountain Vista Annual Book Exchange
Cookies, milk and books. Families came out to Mountain Vista with books in hand to exchange. Another successful Read Across America event.
