Fillmore High Seniors Elementary School Flashback

It has become a tradition at Fillmore Unified School District for graduating seniors to return to where their education began and say thank you to their former elementary schools. Students from the graduating class of 2025 visited San Cayetano Elementary, Piru Elementary, Mountain Vista Elementary, and Rio Vista Elementary. Congratulations class of 2025 on all of your accomplishments!

Flashes Baseball Win 2025 CIF Championship Extra Innings Game 7-6, Celebration Today May 31, 2025 at Central Station at 3pm

Please join the entire Fillmore Unified School District in congratulating the 2025 Flashes Baseball team on becoming CIF Champions.

Today’s come from behind 7-6 victory in extra innings over the Pioneer High Titans at Blair Field in Long Beach California came in the bottom of the 8th inning. A successful bunt from Adrian Magana allowed Thomas Alamillo to score the winning run to bring home Fillmore Baseball’s 6th CIF Championship!

Young Writers Award Ceremony

The Young Writers Awards Night was held on Thursday, May 8th, at the District Office, co-facilitated by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Huang and Special Projects TOSA Kristyn Bennett. Principals and district leaders presented awards to 69 students from grades 1-12 for outstanding stories, poems, and graphic designs. Award recipients received cash prizes funded directly by sponsors, certificates of achievement, and inclusion in a commemorative book featuring all winning entries. Additionally, Scott Lee and Becky Morales presented three Ernie Morales Memorial Awards to students whose entries exemplified family and community involvement. Ten raffle prizes will be distributed to participating students who did not receive awards. We extend our sincere appreciation to this year's sponsors: Fillmore Lion's Club, Fillmore Unified School District, The Rotary Club of Fillmore, St. Francis of Assisi Knights of Columbus, and Otto and Sons Nursery.

Health and Wellness Fair

On May 17, 2025, The Fillmore Unified School District (FUSD) partnered with the City of Fillmore to present this year’s Health and Wellness Fair held at FUSD’s District Office. Over 55 community agencies and FUSD Departments including CNS, Preschool, HR, and our Wellness Centers participated in the event along with local organizations that included Kempo Karate, Zumba, Soundbath, and ReGen Yoga. Activities included Jolly Jumpers, Petting Zoo, and Food Trucks. The event also aligned with Fillmore Rotary Club’s 5K/10 K Run.

Staff & Student of the Year Winners Announced

On May 13, FUSD announced staff and student of the year awards. Staff and students are nominated by FUSD staff, and nominations are reviewed and selected by the Superintendent and her executive cabinet members. Staff are recognized for their commitment to students, contribution to creating a positive and collaborative culture, and leadership and involvement in the school community. Students from Sierra High School and Fillmore High School are nominated by staff members and are selected based on academic achievement, participation in school activities, and leadership qualities.

Certificated Staff Member of the Year: Ashley McClain, Science/AVID Teacher at Fillmore Middle School

Classified Staff Member of the Year: Martha Hope, Attendance Clerk, San Cayetano School

Fillmore High School Student of the Year: Presley McLain

Sierra High School Student of the Year: Lesly Izarraraz

The Governing Board will recognize all award recipients on May 20, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Photos will be posted to the District blog and social media.
