It was Wednesday and FMS wore pink! Tomorrow's theme for Red Ribbon Week is Unite Against Drugs. It'll be a friendly competition! 6th graders wear white, 7th graders wear red and 8th grade wear blue. Let's see who wins!

Wellness Center had a BRITE table during lunch time today. This table raised awareness on the negative effects of substances as part of Red Ribbon Week! Students were able to pledge to be drug-free! Congratulations to all of our students who made this pledge!
All FMS students who met FUSD's attendance goal of being present 97% of the time in Quarter 1 were treated with Haagen-Dazs ice cream!

Our AVID 7 and AVID 8 classes held their first of many tutorials and did well! The goal of AVID tutorials is to teach students how to learn through the inquiry process. Students also learn how to function in collaborative study groups and take their learning to a higher level.

Today's Science Lab, "Creating Collisions," had 8th grade students working to determine how mass affects a collision.
This week was fun at FMS! We had a 6th grade Club Rush yesterday and a 7th/8th grade Club Rush today. Students of all grades had the opportunity to learn about the clubs that exist for them. Clubs included Robotics, Basketball Club, Ultimate Frisbee, Lion Chasers, and Birding Club. Students, if you are interested in starting a club, find an adult that will sponsor you, and see Ms. Van Buren for the proper paperwork!
