It's back-to-school time at Fillmore Middle School. Staff and students had a great first day that included the following morning welcome message:

Today is a great day to be a Bulldog, today is a great day to be in school, today is a great day to teach and learn, today is a great day to shine your brightest, be your best, feel good, be good, and do good. Today is a great day for you and me. With new goals and opportunities to meet, let’s rise up and jump to our feet. Good Morning! Welcome back to school and happy new year 2019-2020.

7th Grade Science Field Trip

Our tour to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo was fantastic, from the dairy with baby calves in the morning, to the high tech chemistry labs in the afternoon, all was inspiring. I am so proud of Kate, our current FFA President at the high school and my former student, who has been accepted into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Ag Science Business. She is a shining star from Fillmore Unified School District and organized our School Farm Tour for 288 Middle School students.

FMS AVID Spring Celebration

Last Thursday was our Spring Celebration to wrap up and showcase all that our AVID program is about at the middle school. All 240 students created projects and contributed to the work displayed for parents to see. The students worked hard to sell 400 tri-tip sandwich tickets to fundraise for our program. The AVID team worked very hard to make the night a success! (Courtesy of Ashley Blackshear)

Erik Sell's Wins at State Duck Stamp Competition

On Saturday, May 4th, a ceremony was held at the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge where Fillmore’s Eric Sell won second place in his age category, one of nine students to do so in the State, chosen from 2,500 entries. His father, David Sell, mother Krista Ward-Sell, his brother Ethan Sell and his grandmother, Joan Ward (not pictured), together with Mrs. Nichols (right), also traveled to the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge to show support for the students. Thank you Mrs. Nichols.
