Heat Advisory Update

FUSD Families,

Due to the extended heat advisory, we will continue to limit and/or restrict outdoor activities at all school sites.

  • Students will be provided water as needed at all sites.

  • Afternoon lunch recesses will provide options for students to stay indoors or in shaded areas.

  • P.E. classes will be held indoors.

Fillmore High School coaches will continue to closely follow the heat index and make any necessary modifications to practices and games based on the FUSD Athletics Heat Advisory Protocols.

College of the Week- Beloit College

Beloit College, located 90 miles northwest of Chicago and about an hour south of Milwaukee, is nestled on a 40-acre, New England-style campus situated on river bluffs and surrounded by American Indian mounds.

Welcome Christina Sandoval, our new Wellness Counselor!

Thank you FHS for the warm welcome. Hello everyone, my name is Christina Sandoval and I am your new Wellness Counselor. I am an alumni from FHS and I am proud to back home to the community that built me! I have been in education for almost 10 years. Attended COC graduated with Associates in Early Child Education, Graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelors in Social Science and La Verne University with my Masters in Educational Counseling with a PPS. My passion is to help guide all students towards success and providing each student the skills to thrive! If you are needing a helping hand I am here for you! I am located in room 2 with Mrs. Luna in the Wellness Center! I am excited for this year and look forward to meeting you soon!

Summary of Fillmore High School Safety Information

Fillmore High Families,

This morning, Fillmore High School received an anonymous bomb threat. Staff immediately contacted the Fillmore Police Department and began an investigation. Our investigation revealed that the information in the threat was non-credible. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be increased police presence throughout the rest of the school day. FUSD will continue to prioritize student safety and take all threats seriously. Any information should be reported to FHS administration or the Fillmore Police Department.

Austin College is a small, private school in Sherman, Texas, about 60 miles north of Dallas. Students at Austin College study a liberal arts curriculum and can choose from more than 40 academic majors.

Summary of Fillmore High School Safety Message

Late this afternoon, Fillmore High School received an anonymous bomb threat. Staff immediately contacted the Fillmore Police Department and began an investigation. The threat was not specific and vague, and the origin of the threat was identified. Based on the investigation, we determined that school could continue without disruption. Students were dismissed at the regular time and there was an increased police presence after school. FHS families were notified through Parent Square. FUSD will continue to prioritize student safety and take all threats seriously.

Reminder: Student Transportation Includes El Dorado Estates And New Housing Area East of Fillmore

Please note, FUSD ONLY TRANSPORT’S THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS:

1. Students that live outside Fillmore’s City Limits. This includes those students from Piru that attend the High School (FHS), Sierra High School (SHS) and Middle School (FMS). There is also an exception for those students that attend FHS, SHS & FMS that live in El Dorado Estates (Family Mobil Home Park) and the new housing area east of Fillmore.

2. Any SPED Student as long as it has been indicated in their IEP

3. ALL SPED Students that live in Piru, as there are no SPED Classes at Piru Elementary

4. Students that are required to attend another school within FUSD District, due to impacted enrollment, enrolled in a special SPED Class or special circumstances, approved by Educational Services.

Please print and complete the STUDENT TRANSPORTATION ENROLLMENT FORM if you are requesting transportation services. If you are unable to print the form, know that it is available for you to pick up at your child’s school and/or at the MOT Office. Please complete one form per student and return to the MOT OFFICE.
