This morning after drop off, we were joined by our guest speaker, Mrs. Krystal Sarabia Rocha, who shared valuable information about Community Schools and how this 5-year grant will support and strengthen our school community.

Character Counts at Rio Vista!
We celebrated our Character Trait of the Month: Responsibility!
Congratulations to all of our students who were recognized for consistently showing responsibility in their actions, learning, and choices. We’re so proud of the positive example you set for others every day!
Our youngest Rio Vista students traded the classroom for the countryside today at the FUSD Farm! They learned all about the pumpkin life cycle, enjoyed a hayride, explored a pallet maze, and even got to pick and decorate their own pumpkins. What a perfect fall adventure!
Red Ribbon Week at Rio Vista!
Today we’re showing our school spirit by teaming up for healthy choices! Students and staff are wearing their favorite sports gear to promote healthy, safe, and drug-free lifestyles.
Tomorrow, Tuesday Oct 28, is twin day because “friends stick together and make healthy choices”.
From a tiny seed to a giant gourd! Mrs. Stanley and Ms. Sarah’s TKers are learning all about the life cycle of a pumpkin; how it begins as a seed, grows into a flowering vine, and transforms into a big, bright orange pumpkin ready for harvest (or carving!)
Our 5th graders in Mrs. DeMeritt and Mr. Kinberg’s classes visited Ventura College this week! They explored the campus, learned about college life, and got inspired to start thinking about their futures.
The rest of our 5th graders will be heading to Ventura College next week!

Our 2nd–5th graders learned about N.E.D.—Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. A fun reminder that kindness and perseverance never go out of style!
What an amazing Color Run!
Thanks to the incredible support of our students, families, and parent club, we raised over $19,500. With 60% of the funds coming back to us, we’ll be able to support school programs, events, and opportunities that make our school such a special place. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered us on. You made this event a huge success!
Perfect Attendance Shout-Out!
Great job to all our students who were on time and present every single day in September! We celebrated with a special ice cream treat, and we are so proud of the 159 students who achieved Perfect Attendance!
Today is National Custodial Worker Day!
We are so grateful for our amazing custodial team who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. Thank you for all that you do for our students, staff, and community. Our school shines brighter because of you!
Coffee with a Cop! Today our students had the opportunity to meet and interact with our Ventura County Sheriffs. It was a great chance to build connections and learn more about the important role they play in keeping our community safe.
Shoutout to Ms. Albin’s 2nd graders! They crushed their goal by passing 160 iReady lessons as a class and celebrated with ice cream! Way to go, scholars! Beep Beep!

Our Roadrunners celebrated Constitution Day, September 17, with engaging grade-level activities that highlighted the history of the U.S. Constitution and what it means today. Students explored its importance in shaping our nation and connecting it to their own rights and responsibilities as learners
Rio Vista has been recognized with the special honor of being named a Promising Practice School for the staff’s work in building effective Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Their collaboration has had a lasting impact, leading to increased student achievement on local and state assessments over the past three years. This recognition is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our amazing staff.
